Fundación Chichibali
At Altos Escondidos, we know that the human community is as much part of our environment as nature itself.
To make our resort community fully sustainable, we need a strong and mutually supportive relationship with the people whose families have lived on this land for generations. Our goal is to help local residents to live more comfortably and sustainably, and enjoy greater economic freedom.
That’s why we have established the non-profit Fundación Chichibali. On a 7-hectare site near Altos Escondidos, the Foundation is developing a Community Learning Center, where it can develop programs that support the local community.
Fundación Chichibali is supported by sales at Altos Escondidos, and nonprofit organizations in Panama and internationally.
Planned facilities and programs include:- Emergency health care serving the local community as well as Altos Escondidos;
- Training in organic horticulture and agriculture;
- Organic tree farm;
- Organic orchid farm;
- Organic vegetable garden;
- English language education;
- Job training in housekeeping, gardening and other skills need at Altos Escondidos;
- Training in maintenance of solar and wind energy technologies;
- Solar energy installation for local homes currently without electricity;
- Internships developed with the University of Missouri for students in programs
- related to agriculture, environmental science education, social science, and hotel and
- restaurant management.
